I have never done this myself, all the cats that I have looked after or that we had when I was a kid were always allowed to go out and some of them ventured a little and others stayed close to home.

Smokey was one who stayed close to home and never ventured too far.

Some people do tend to keep their cats in as house cats and I can understand why as there are so many dangers outside that could cause them so much harm.

What are your thoughts on those who keep cats as house cats?

There are snakes in my neighbourhood and it's not safe for my cats to be exposed to them. I know cats are capable of fighting snakes but it's a risk I don't want to take because of how poisonous snakes can be.

For my cats, they have so much room to roam around in my company. It's a 3 plots of free empty space. They can explore as much as they wanted.

If I don't have such a big room for them to make use of, I'm not sure if I would be open to letting them lose in the neighbourhood.

None of my cats are allowed to leave the house unless I am the one that is taking them for a walk because I don't like them getting into any kind of fights with other cats or even other animals that are living in my neighborhood. There are several dogs that are usually very aggressive that are living in the same neighborhood with us.

It is less stressful for you to make your cats to be home cats and not the kind of cats that love being outdoors. A lot of things can come into play when your cat usually stay outdoor very often which might be detrimental to their health.

She can't leave the house without my permission or even going round the house without my eyes on her. There are some people that are keeping their cats as house cats and they have their reasons.

My thoughts on keeping cats as home cats is that there's absolutely nothing wrong with doing that. This is because that's how it have been with my cats for years and that's never going to change. It's for their own good and safety they're kept at home.

Cats can fight snakes but the disadvantage there is that they can get injured and have a higher risk of getting the venom which we killed. It's never better to leave cats in an exposed environment where dangers are lurking.
