Some people are actually scared of cats. My neighbor said that the way their eyes glow in the night scares her, so she had never been a fan of having one as pet.

I have a friend like that as well that believes cats are quite ominous. He even believes that they are somehow responsible for strange occurrences around them.

I wouldn't blame your mother because they also act such in some movies which backs up the thought. A lot of strange things happens in the spirit world and cats might play a role in them.

I know someone and that my brother. He don't like cats neither does he like any other pet. He said that he doesn't have much attention to give them and it will be bad to suffer them. I get his point and it's valid.
