Why are some cats scared of their owners?

You are saying the real fact. Some owners don't have a strong connection with their cats even though they love the cats so much. So anybody treating them like trash can never have them close.

I think some people just want to belong to the group of people that have pets, so they do not exactly know how to treat them well.

They’re horrible human beings as far as I'm concerned. It's like getting married and decided to have kids when you know they are never going to be your priority.
