How do you handle a cat that wakes you up early in the morning?

This has probably happened to many cat owners over the years, I know it happened to me many times when we had Smokey.

I would always have times when Smokey would wake me at around 6 am, during the summer when it got light earlier, she would sometimes wake me as early as 4 am thinking it was time to get up. I found that by standing my ground and going back to sleep that she eventually got into a better routine for waking me when she should do.

Have you had a cat that wakes you early in the morning? How did you handle it?

Zoey does not care if I wake up in the morning or not. She would just go about her daily activities of clawing the sofas. It’s only when she needs it that she comes for physical contact.

If we don't wake up by 8 am, two of our cats go crazy. One of them starts meowing loudly nonstop, while the other tries to pull off our covers. He used to jump on us, but now he just tries to uncover us. I don’t think there’s any way to stop them other than just getting up. We tried ignoring them, but it only seems to make things worse. The cat in my profile picture, though, never bothers us at all.

All of my cats usually wake up around 6:30 a.m. or 7:00 in the morning. It is only during weekends that I sleep too long and wake up late in the morning and by that time, all of them must have been up and doing everything possible to wake me up.

Since my cat started waking me up very early in the morning, I have adjusted my sleeping period to wake up around the time they usually wake up. This is so that I can attend to their needs and be able to face some of other things that I need to do during the day.

Cats rule the house, so if they're hungry and are demanding food, they're gonna get their food!.... Well, actually I just feed them cause I want to sleep in peace without having a choir of 3 starving screaming cats! 😱

I actually have to wake up very early in the morning. So if my cat does it I might as well ditch the alarm.

Cats are more gentle than other pets. They don't like disturbance and they won't disturb you. I love them cats so well because of their gentility. My cat never wakes me up, she either stay at the end of the bed or stay on the couch.
