I feel helpless whenever my cats are having hiccups. I know how it makes me feel to have hiccups and seeing it happening to my cats doesn't make me feel any better. It happens to them when they eat too fast and too much. It's why I start making use of puzzle feeder to make them eat slowly.

I remember Smokey getting hiccups a few times, it was rare for her and I noticed it was always when she had eaten fast for some reason, say if something spooked her.

Most of the time she was pretty calm and ate her food slowly though.

My cats usually seem to eat a lot faster whenever they have been starved. Once that happens, there's no way they won't have hiccups at the end of it. It's why I try as much as possible to give them good regularly to prevent this from happening.

I've never seen any of my cats having hiccups. They seem to be fine always after they are done with eating. Hiccups can be very uncomfortable for human beings and I assume it's going to be the same for cats.

She never had hiccups or maybe I didn't notice because all through the time we spent together, I didn't find that or observed it. She might be be lucky not to have it.

A lot of things can cause hiccups in cats and one of them I'm very sure of is hairballs. Having hairs in the digestive system can irritate the throat or stomach. This is capable of triggering hiccups in cats.

That's true. From the grooming that they used to do on themselves, it might give them the gap to always swallow their hairs. Hairballs are really capable of causing hiccups on them.

Hiccups can be very annoying and frustrating whenever you're cat is experiencing it especially for the first time when you don't know anything on how to go about making it stop.
