Do your cats make use of a cat flap?

Cat flaps are amazing to have as they allow your cats to be able to go in and out without the worry of you needing to be there to let them out and back in again. Cats also love to be able to freely roam meaning a cat flap works well for this.

Some people have catflaps installed in their doors but others are not always able to have one placed in the home. This could be due to them renting the house they live in and they need permission to install a cat flap.

Do your cats make use of a cat flap? Did they take to it easily when it was new to them?

I wouldn't be without a cat flap for my cats. I am out quite often when it comes to working and if I didn't have a cat flap, they would end up stuck in all day and it would drive them insane.

They love being able to come and go as they please even when there is no one home so I always ensure I have a working cat flap.

We never had a cat flap for Smokey as we live in a rented property and they would not allow us to have a cat flap installed which was a shame. We got used to her asking to be let out or if we had a window open far enough which were bottom opening windows she would go out through those to go out.

I don't have a cat flap right now, but I think it is necessary for cat owners to get one as it will make their lives better and more exciting especially when you are not around.

This is very true. I know that many people always ensure that they have a cat flap so that they do not have their cats stuck in the house all day when they are out for say work.

One issue I have heard from many people though is how other cats tend to also use the cat flap and come into the house, taking the cat's food. I do know they have cat flaps that have a magnet in which you put something on their collar and it allows only them to be able to enter through the cat flap.

If you don't have a cat flap, it's going to restrict the movement of your cat which isn't good for them generally. It's going to look like they were in jail. Cats love to explore and denying them that will make them less expressive.

Cat flaps are not installed anywhere in my house, so none of my cats makes use of it. My cats only makes use of the door to go in and out when they want to leave the house. This is in a bid to prevent them from going outside all the time without anything stopping them.

Yes of course, my cats usually love to make use of the cat flap whenever they want to go outside the house or come inside on their own. It is always very easy for them to use it instead of waiting for the door to be open for them to go out.

They used to be one in my house but I ended up having to remove it because they are using it all the time to go outside especially when I don't want them to go outside because it is not completely safe for them to be outside without my supervision.

Nope, I don't have any cat flap in my house. My cats only go outside when the door is opened for them and I love it that way because it stops them from going outside when I'm not aware. My neighbour's cat was killed last week by an unknown driver.

If it is not completely safe for your cats to go outside without being supervised, I believe that you have done a good thing. I know a lot of cats that have been killed or gone missing as a result of going outside without their owners knowing.

It is only one of my cats that likes to go out very often more than the rest. She's the one that normally makes use of the cat flap to go outside and also the one that got lost which took me 12 hours to find her.

Yeah, it's the main reason why I had to review and remove it. Now, it's when I want them to go out, then I'll open the door for them. I don't open my windows and even if I did, there's a net in the window that won't let them out.

I don't have a cat flap even when I had my cat. She don't step out with me or my permission. I make sure to know her whereabouts and observe everything she's doing.

It is not safe for one to allow their cat to be going outside house without proper supervision. I don't understand how those who are doing it feel comfortable with it because something can easily go wrong when you are not observing over them as they are playing outside.

It is the same thing with my apartment as well because they don't have cat flap installed in the house and I don't think I am going to be the one that is going to do it. Whenever we have to go out, I will have to be the one that will open the doors for my cats to go out.

It's better to know when your cats moves around and know where they are going. Cat flaps isn't bad but due to the sneaky attitude of cats, I don't need it.

Cat flaps are not necessarily important to me because I don't fancy having my kittens outside the house. My neighbourhood isn't that safe to allow them out in the public whenever they want.

Keep your cat safe because there might be human eaters or animal eaters patrolling round the streets and they won't take a chance to see an animal that's good looking and opportunity calls for food 😂
