  1. Regular Veterinary Check-ups
As your cat ages, it's important to schedule regular check-ups with your veterinarian. Older cats are more susceptible to various health issues, such as arthritis, dental problems, and kidney disease. Regular check-ups will allow your vet to detect any health problems early and recommend treatment.
  1. Provide Nutritious Food
As cats age, they may become less active, and their metabolism slows down. Therefore, they require fewer calories. It's important to provide your senior cat with a well-balanced and nutritious diet, rich in protein and healthy fats, to maintain their muscle mass and support their immune system.
  1. Provide Comfortable Sleeping Areas
As cats age, they may develop arthritis, which can make it difficult for them to move around comfortably. Therefore, it's important to provide your senior cat with comfortable sleeping areas, such as soft and supportive bedding, to reduce the pressure on their joints.
  1. Maintain Good Dental Health
Dental problems are common in older cats, and they can cause pain and discomfort, which can lead to other health issues. Therefore, it's important to maintain good dental hygiene in your senior cat. Brush their teeth regularly, and provide them with dental treats and toys to help keep their teeth clean.
  1. Provide Adequate Exercise
Although senior cats may be less active than younger cats, they still require regular exercise to maintain their muscle mass and overall health. Encourage your senior cat to play with toys or climb on a scratching post to keep them active and engaged.
In conclusion, caring for a senior cat requires a bit of extra effort, but it's essential to ensure their health and comfort. Regular veterinary check-ups, a nutritious diet, comfortable sleeping areas, good dental hygiene, and adequate exercise can help ensure that your senior cat has a happy and healthy life.

This article doesn't mention at what age a cat becomes a "senior" cat, for those interested is 11 - 14 years. 😞

Im sad because I have 2 cats that soon will be be seniors. This is just a reminder to be extra nice to them as they will not be here forever.

Never feed your older cats human food because of how slow their metabolism have become. Even for younger cats, it's not advisable too but it's should never be done with older cats. Going for regular medical check up is paramount in making sure you're on top of their health care.

We lose our old pets sooner or later. It's inevitable and it's always painful.
