Dim light is also nice and it doesn't cause any harm to the eyes while sleeping. Being switched on can help someone in case they wants to use the bathroom, there will be light reflecting on their path. -

No, I don't do that. I don't pet every cat I see on the road or even at a friend's house but I admire their cuteness a lot. -
What are some creative ways to entertain a cat?
My cat was like this and she love to play with me even while I'm so busy. I learnt to get some toys for her in order to take her mind from where I am until I am done and it worked. -

You will learn to keep her somewhere safe that she can't meet your visitors before you open the door for the visitors. Your cat might be feeling nervous around the strangers, that's why she's attacking them. -

I feed like two stray cats when I lost my cat and they kept coming back every night. They will stay at the gate, I made a plate where I used to put foods for them. -
