When we get a cat or even when a cat is born, one of the first things we do is give them a name. Of course, at first, they are not going to know their name and it will take time for them to learn their name.

Much like humans, cats vary as to how long it takes for them to learn things such as recognizing their names.

Should I say about 4 days max. By the third day, even if she was not in sight if I call her name she will come fast. Cats generally need a longer time to know their names compared to the canines.

It didn't take too long before my cat started answering their names when they have been called. If I remember correctly, it should be roughly one week that they started responding whenever I call them their names and I was very happy about it.

Cats and dogs have a unique skills and that's the speed and easiness to master their names. When I was trying to find a good name for her, and I called her Smiley, the way she smiled made me to know she love it.

Your cat smiled at you? It must have been a scene to behold. I am so jealous of you.

She have a smiley face and when you look at her, you will think she's smiling. You don't need to be jealous because she's no more with me.

Oh so sorry to hear that. Did you have another one after she passed?
