It is normal for cats to sleep or take a snooze during the day and also sleep at night as well but some people have been worried that their cats may sleep too much. Would you say there is such a thing as a cat sleeping too much?

Do you feel your cat sleeps too much?

I wouldn't say my cats sleep too much. There are times when I will see them and they may be lying on the sofa or even in the window and asleep or at least snoozing. They do also tend to sleep at night as well when we do but I don't think it goes as far as them having too much sleep.

I have found in the past, especially a night, cats even though they do sleep, they also do spend some time awake as well during the night, and because of that, much like us humans, they may end up needing a nap.

My cats never sleep too much by my observations. I make sure they go to bed before I do but they wake up before me and look sharp all morning. I've tried to wake up many time before them but haven't been able to beat them at waking up first.

I've always had good moments whenever that I am with my cats at home. So, I don't think they sleep too much. We have a little playground set-up too and this helps most of the time.

Having observed all my cats for a long time, I've timed all their sleeping session and it's within 10 hours of average sleep everyday. I spoke with their vet about it and he assured me it's a good sleep time.

My cats sleep for close to 12 hours on a daily basis and I have nothing to worry about. The problem is thinking that your cats should have more sleep instead.

Getting 12 hours of sleep is very good too for your cats. I wish I can get up to 10 hours sleep the same way my cat's do but it's not been the reality. I struggle with sleeping well but as long as my cats sleep well, I'm good.

You've got responsibilities that you need to handle while your cats have zero responsibility to handle. Expecting to sleep like them is unimaginable.

They are my responsibilities too because I have to work hard to take good care of them all the time. Their feeding, health care, comfortability etc are all on me alone.

I think that it's right for cats to get enough sleep don't you? It's better they are sleeping too much than they are not sleeping enough for their health sake. My kittens were so good at sleeping when I got them newly. Once they have played well, and fed, they can sleep for hours.

I think one of my cats sleeps more than the others. It's not like anything is wrong with him but he just plays too much more than the rest. It wears him out more than the rest, hence why he tend to sleep more than the other cats.

As long as as they are healthy and sleep well enough, I think that it's a good thing. It's going to be very bad for one's cat health if they are not getting enough sleep. I would be worried for my cats should they not sleep enough.

I agree. Cats are all unique and much like humans even though one may need less sleep the other may need more but that does not mean there is an issue, it's just how the body is and how much sleep they need.

I would worry if they are spending almost all day sleeping or even if they are barely sleeping.

No, I don't think my cat sleeps too much. I believe that they sleep adequately the way they are supposed to sleep because when they are sleeping too much, it should be a sign that something is wrong with their health. I will have them taken to the vet immediately.

I would say that it's better for your cat to sleep too much than not sleep well enough. The health damages your cat will suffer from having less sleep will be more than what it suffers from sleeping more than enough.

Too much of anything is bad. Yes, it's good that your kittens have a good hours of quality sleep but that shouldn't be too much because if that happens, it mean your kittens have a health issue. Everything needs to be moderate.

This is true, you should always monitor how much your cat sleeps and doesn't sleep to be sure everything is okay.

Too much sleeping though could also indicate a health issue much like with adults when we sleep too much.

Everything about how they behave should be in moderation in order to show that things are the way they are supposed to be. Although this might be completely different based on the specie of cats you are keeping. I'm talking about when you are keeping orange cats. They are totally different.

Cats need much sleep like humans. My cat was a good sleeper at night and she used to be awake all morning. She spend all day playing and eating.
