Some cats grew up on the streets and have been exposed to harsh treatments and conditions. When these ones are adopted they can either retreat to themselves or be somewhat aggressive.
How can can these cats be helped?

Attention and care is the first. Then giving them a well balanced food, cat foods inclusive. Animals can hear us and assuring them that they are safe is a big way to allow them trust you.

Patience is the key when it comes to dealing with cats that grew up on the streets and have been exposed to harsh treatments and conditions which makes them traumatized. Don't rush anything with them. Introduce things to them and show them care.

If love, care and affection doesn't do it for the cat, I'm not there's anything else that's going to help such a cat in that situation of being traumatised.

Just like patience is needed to deal with humans. The problem is that most people are not patient enough for their pets and they attribute their actions to improper behavior.
