How can I make my cat come out of his shell?

A friend asked me this question yesterday. His cat is always disappearing from sight, does not want to be seen at all. It is worse if there are visitors. I can’t relate, because Zoey is not introverted. But I suggested that she puts the cat’s eating bowl in an open place, not in a corner. Gradually it will come out if hiding.

How else do you think this can be overcome?

Even if you put the cat's feeling bowl in the living room where there's an open space, they will either drag it away to their secret spot or not come out there to eat when someone is around. It takes time for them to build trust. Keep showing them care and get the cat toys and also put their scratching post out in the open. With time, the cat with adjust.

It takes cats some times to build trust. It's not that easy to make them come out of their shell except those that are already agile in nature. Just show them trust, care and make use of their toys to know if they will come to you.

Sounds like your cat still needs to build some trust, this can take time for cats, especially if they seem to be a little shy.

Moving the food bowl will only push them to drag it away to an area they can hide.

Keep doing what you are doing, show them care and that you can be trusted and in time, the cat will start to come out of its shell
