Does your cat like to be covered up as though they were in bed?

Something I noticed with two of my cats, especially when it is really cold is how they like to have a blanket placed over them when they sleep as though they were in bed and under the duvet. This is the first time I have known a cat to like something like that and it was only because a friend of mine placed a blanket over two of my cats and they seemed to enjoy it that I realized.

Do any of your cats like to be covered when they sleep?

When Smokey was younger, she would never tolerate being covered up when she slept but as she got older, it was something she started to tolerate so I wonder if maybe the cold would bother her more when she was older compared to when she was younger.

I tried once when it was cold to place a blanket over my cats and they would not tolerate it at all so I don't bother anymore now, I just leave them to do their own thing and let them get comfy so that they are happy. I know if cats are cold they will find a way to keep warm.

Simba will enjoy being covered like a little baby, but that is not the same for Bella who wants to act like the queen. However, I have noticed that most cats will want that feeling where they are covered too.

I do wonder if it may be more of a comfort thing as well as a keeping warm thing as well, especially during the colder months. I know when I have a blanket tightly around me I tend to feel more secure and it's a comfort thing for myself and it could very well be the same for some cats.

This would explain a lot if it was in actual fact a comfort thing. Smokey would as I say, never tolerate it when she was younger but as she got older she did, and more so after she went missing for a few days so it could very well have been a comfort thing for her as well as a cold issue as well.

It sure seems that way. I often look at how cats react and what they do and you can see a resemblance with cats that you will often see in humans as well. It could very well be a comfort thing and would seem so for Smokey after she went missing.

I too have seen similarities in cats that we do as well as humans. Much like us they like to feel safe and secure and that could be the very reason they like to be covered up. I know myself I always feel secure and safe if I am covered up and all bundled up and it could very well be the same for cats and also many other animals.

This is the direct opposite with my cats. They will never allow you cover them up with a blanket when they were kittens. If they were asleep when you covered them, in the next 10 minutes, they will remove it.

I am beginning to believe that it is more of a comfort thing from them which is also not that bad. Anything that can make them feel pretty comfortable, I am in for it.

My cats like to be covered up when they were kittens. They can't stand cold especially at night but as they got older, they don't like being covered. If they are awake, they won't let you cover them. If you did when they are asleep, they will claw it off when they wake up.

None of my cats love being covered. They don't even like putting on any clothes or socks. One of them refused to walk with socks on.
