Does your cat like swimming?

Ordinarily, cats aren't big with swimming. In fact, most cats that I have seen don't like getting wet. It's not like dogs that really enjoyed being in the water all the time (not all dogs at least).

But as for cats, it's very rare for you to see a cat that's very free when it comes to getting into the water or a pool.

How does your cat fare with swimming?

Any cats that I have had or looked after have always never liked water unless it was for drinking. I always remember one cat we had, Simba. He was on the garden fence and a seagull went over he looked up and followed it with his head and ended up falling off the fence into the pond we had.

Safe to say he wasn't a happy cat after that and that was how we found out he hated water and definitely was not a swimmer.

Simba wanted to fly with the seagull but ended up in the pool . He must be pissed all day. My cat Sally even hate water when she's taking her bath and not to talk about swimming. She doesn't go anywhere near our pool.

I can remember the day my cat was stuck outside and I didn't know and it started raining while he was outside. He was drenched by the rain and I couldn't hold back my laughter when I saw the look on his face. He refused to allow me pet him the whole day because he was mad at me.

Your cat probably felt that you locked him or her out on purpose. I would be pissed too if I were the cat .

Cats just hate water. If it's possible for them to avoid it for the rest of their lives, they would gladly do it.

My cats have never been fans of water. Whenever they saw water, they tended to run in the opposite direction.
I believe it is critical to respect your cat's preferences and not force them into situations they are uncomfortable with, such as being in or near water.

My cats will not go anywhere near water, if they hear a tap or say if someone is in the pool during the warm summer months splashing around they run and we don't see them for a while. Due to that, I have never attempted to give them any kind of bath or shower as I know just how bad that will affect them and I don't see it fair putting them through that if not needed.

My cats will not be near any water at all unless they are drinking it. They hate water and I could only imagine their reaction if there ever was a time that they would need to swim if they ever fell into say a pond or pool.

Oh my! I love how cats get like that and really do give you the silent treatment when something like that happens. They usually come around again in the end but it can take a little.

I have never seen a cat that likes water to the extent of getting into swimming pool. Water and cats are enemies and it's why most cats hate baths. For this reason alone, it's why I only bath my cats within every 5 to 6 weeks.

Unless it is a unique cat that got used to water at an early stage (which I highly doubt as well). I have read about dogs liking to swim, but not the same story with cats.

Water freaks out most cats I know. It's the same story with my cat. I wonder why it's so with cats when water is involved. Cats that love water will make it easy for you to have them bathed.

It's once in a while you get to see a cat that loves being in the water and even swimming too. I would even be very happy should any of my cats have such feeling towards being in water. Sadly, they are not and we fight whenever it's bathing time.

None of my cats have anything to do with swimming to the best of my knowledge because they don't like being in water.

I know that they don't even like taking their bath so it is going to be very difficult for them to enjoy swimming as well.

It is a very big trouble for you to bath my cat, they don't like water in anyway. I don't also think they would fancy swimming as well because it means they are going to be soaked wet in the swimming pool which they don't like water on their body.

If there are 50 cats, 49 are afraid of water. I can't even bath my cat in peace. I have asked questions on why they hate water so much but haven't gotten the answer. Smiley cannot swim and she wasn't interested.
