When it comes to the taking care of your cat's treatment and medication, do you self medicate or do you always take your cat to the vet whenever there's any problem?

How I do with my cat depends on how serious the health condition get. If it's nothing serious, I'd self medicate and vice versa.

Apart from giving my cat multivitamins, everything else that's related to his health care is carried out by the vet.

I don't want to take any slight chances with how I take care of my cat. I don't self medicate. Why would I do it with my cat?

It really depends on what my cat had wrong with them as to whether I would self-medicate or take them to the vet for medication. Usually if we had to take her to the vet, it would be something that we would have to give her antibiotics for and I was able to bring them home and give her them at home when they were needed. Things like flea treatment for her we would get ourselves and put on ourselves.

I am not a vet so I will never take it upon myself to diagnose and treat a cat. One of our cats has allergies that come and go and he is the only one that I will give pre-approved allergy medication to.. fun fact, when cats have allergies, you can give them Flonase, the nasal spray that we humans use.

I never knew about using of this Flonase for cat's allergies. This is one of the reasons why I enjoy being in a community like this one. You will always pick up something that's going to be beneficial to you.

OT - I would never self medicate my cat. I have my cat vet on speed dail.

I will only self-medicate my cats if I have been told by the vet that it is fine for me to do so and if I feel confident in doing so. Much of the time when my cats have needed medication it has been something like a pill or a liquid that I can easily add to the food that they eat so they get it so it hasn't been too much of an issue for me to self-medicate.

I have a good vet that takes good care of my cats. I mean he has been supportive in every area that I need help with my cats and the cost haven't been that much.

This is what I would be willing to do as well. Once it's something a bit more simple for me to do according to the instructions given to me by my cat's veterinary doctor, I'm sure of doing it. If it's something to do with giving an injection, I won't do it.

I pay the vet doctor for everything. I don't want to place myself in a situation where I will make mistakes and for that reason, I avoid a lot of things that are strange to me.
