Cat running away from home?

My neighbour's cat used to wander a lot but always find her way back home. There's never been any cause for alarm until last week when his cat never returned home. It's been 3 days now since this happened and there's a chance his cat is starving somewhere unless she can hunt and kill some prey to feed on for a while. He's contact local vets and councils to help with looking out for the cat. It's a good thing the cat is microchipped.

Have something like this happened with your cat?

I don't let my cat wander too much. It is not something that is advisable anyways. The cats should be monitored when they go out to ensure that they don't go too far away from home.

I feel sad for your neighbour because I know how painful and frustrating it's going to be for him as long as they don't find his cat and have it home as soon as possible because the longer it takes, the more difficult it is going to be in finding his cat again.

Experiencing a cat straying away is one of the experience that I won't want to have. It is very important to understand the need to have a close eyes on your cats whenever they are out there.

This is worrying to hear and the poor cat might be in danger. If the cat get caught up with anti cat's people, it's going to be difficult for the cat not to be abused. I hope the authorities would be able to locate the cat on time to prevent chances of further harm to the cat.

Some cats are prone to go out more than usual and you can't cage them up otherwise, they will be sad and might end up attacking you one day. If there are lots of wandering cats in your neighbourhood, it will hard stopping your cat from going out.

This is a painful truth, but finding ways to keep track of your cat is also necessary. I wouldn't want to experience my cat missing. I can't even go a night without being sure of their whereabouts.

Yes, all my cats have their neck tag chip collar. I can even use it to trace where they are whenever I want. It's recommended for any cat owners especially if your cats love being outdoor. It will save you a lot to stress.

It is always awful when this happens, especially if it is not like them to go away from home for so long.

This once happened to my cat, she went missing and didn't come back for a few days. We printed and posted leaflets asking people to check their sheds and out houses to see if she had been trapped in there.

I would advise doing that if you can as you never know, someone could have had their sed or outhouse open and then closed it and the cat may have been in there and they did not realize.

I do hope they find their cat safe!

This must have been very difficult for you when it happened with your cat. The waiting to get a call that someone have seen your cat can be killing. It's capable of causing one high blood pressure.

None of my cats have ran away from home. They don't have any reason why they are going to run away from home because I take very good care of them. I feel bad for anyone that have their cats run away from home.

There is a very clear indication that the cat is already lost or must have been killed for the it not to be able to return home. For a cat to be in the habit of wandering about means the cat is always very familiar of its surroundings. If the cat fails to come home, this means something wrong must have happened.

I would be heartbroken if my cats ran away from them. I treat them with love, tender and care. They don't lack anything as far as I know. For security reasons, I don't allow them to leave the house on their own.

That's my thoughts too but I didn't pen it down until I see your post. It might be wandering around or even be with friends they met on the neighborhood. Cats love to prey on their enemies especially when given the opportunity to do that.
