My mother called me this morning to tell me about an observation she had with one of her kitten. The kitten started showing a line of blood in her left eye out of no where. She wasn't in any fight with another cat or had any health issues before the line of blood suddenly appeared this morning. She can't see her vet now because their next appointment is in 7 days time.

What could be the cause of this? Have you had any similar cases with your kittens?

From experience with my cat, that blood is going to clear in a matter of days. The most important thing is to focus on what is necessary which is ensuring that the cat feeds well.

She later saw her cat's vet and after examining her cat, it was diagnosed to have hyphema. The good thing was it wasn't too much and all her cat needed to do was rest well for the blood to clear.

This is great. I am surprised that the cat never had a good rest because cats likes to sleep more especially at night.

When there's anything that doesn't look right with or in your cat, you should rush to your vet doctor immediately. Delay might be very dangerous for your cat. Imagine having your cat blind as a result of delaying to take care of such. I hope your cat is better now?

Blood in a cat's eye could be anything. I believe much like humans, cats' eyes can also become blood shot from time to time.

In this situation, I would keep an eye on the kitten and get to a vet if you feel it is getting worse rather than getting better.

I didn't know about this blood in a cat's eye and the cause. I never know cats will also have bloodshot eyes even though I might not know the reason for that.
