Has your cat ever eaten something it shouldn't?

All too often no matter how much you try and keep foods away from a cat that they shouldn't be eating, there may always be a time that you miss it and they do eat something that they shouldn't. This could be food from a neighbor's bin, maybe chocolate, or something else that you left sitting around whilst you went to do something. Some people even use things like slug repellent in their gardens that cat be fatal to cats. You can't always see when your cat may eat something they shouldn't which can be very worrying especially if they fall ill from it.

Has your cat ever eaten something it shouldn't? What was it that they ate?

I am not sure if my cats have ever eaten anything that they shouldn't but there have been times when my cats have been out and later they have been sick and I have wondered if maybe they ate something outside they shouldn't have.

I have the same thing with my cats, they will go out fine and come back unwell and I often put it down to them eating something outside that they shouldn't have done. Because I haven't seen them eat anything weird though, it's just something I assume, and never know for sure if that was the case.

I'm not sure if my cats are supposed to eat their kills because they usually kill a lot of rats and lizard living within my premises and I'm sure that it will eat them. It have not actually done anything to affect their health, so I'm not really bothered about it.

Smokey was never really a cat that ventured too far when it came to things like going into other people's rubbish to eat left over scraps or even just wondering round finding things to eat so I never really had an issue with Smokey falling ill due to eating something she shouldn't.

Watching your cats on where they go is very important. The thing is to start preventing them from eating what they have killed at home. It will help to curb their urge to eating everything.

I'm very careful with what I allow my cats to eat. Yes, I know that it's impossible to stop them from eating something when I'm not at home but that's why I feed them well before going out to work in order to make sure that they are not hungry to go look for another thing to eat.

If you feed them well before going out and decide not to lock them inside the house, they may end up eating those things that you don't want them to eat. This is something you should consider as well whenever you are stepping out of the home.
