This is the same behavior with humans as well. It is not all the time that we want to be disturbed, by something we love doing which is funny.

Yes, both human beings and animals want their boundaries to be respected at all times. It's why some cats would attack if they don't want company.

They loved to be touched but not frequently. I can rest my hands on top of their body while watching the TV, strolling up and down. When they had enough, they can get up and move.

Zoey is the opposite of what you have just described. She wants to be all over me whenever I am around. I actually love that.

If it's me, my cats doesn't have any problem with being touched but if it's strangers, they always stay far away a little. They like their space and privacy.
