Are your cats interested in lit candles?

I am someone that likes to have candles lit in the home, especially the scented ones that you get. I had never had an issue with candles and cats up until a few weeks ago when one of my cats got curious that I had lit and even got right close to it to check it out. I was luckily in the room at the time and was able to move them away but now I am a little wearier about burning candles when my cats are around or if I am going to be in and out of the room.

Have you noticed that your cats have an interest in lit candles? What do you do to prevent them from getting too close and possibly burning themselves?

I have a few candles in my home that I light every so often and there have been times when my cats have been curious and gone near it but have backed off when they can feel the heat coming from it. I find that I do not have issues with my cats trying to touch the candle when it is lit but just like you, I have seen cats get too curious and end up touching and burning themselves.

Smokey got curious about lit candles but never fully went near them, in fact she would do all she could to stay as far away from them as possible so I was never worried about having a lit candle whilst I was doing other things around the house.

I once saw a video that was shown to me of a cat that reached over and touched the flame of a candle. If you have ever touched that part yourself at all you will know how hot it can get. I can only imagine how the cat must have felt after that.

This is why I am so cautious now with my cats as I would hate to see them burn themselves.

I hardly lit any kind of candles in my house because of any accidents that might result to fire outbreak. I'm being very careful with it.

Instead of scented candles, I make use of electronic diffuser which brings out smoke when it's plugged and turned on with the mixture of oil per and water.

I don't make use of any kind of candle. I use automatic air fresher dispenser. It's way more better than any scented candles they have tried selling to me. I'm not sure if my cats would like them. They are good with the air fresher.
